Hotel Type

Resort

It's not the usual hotel you run across on the pages of JetSetReport, Budersand, this large scale resort located on the links of one of the island's top golf courses in Sylt's Hornum. From affair it's an architectural beauty, a rarity on this rather conservative island, with its slated teak siding encompassing the massive hotel structure interspersed with glassy balconies amongst clean lines and horizon of rolling dines.

Guests arrive to a valet-free entrance and into a stylish lobby lounge constructed in low-flung Italian furnishings on shiny limestone floors with walls painted in muted browns and creamy beige suspended in black-and-white artwork. The hotel feature three eateries, available as a package from the hotel or ala carte for outside visitors. There's also a large spa as well as a full fitness center that can combine various dietary and body procedures with a full workout regiment.

The Room

Arriving for multi-week stays during spring and summer, families book into this design-minded hotel for its mix of standard, junior suite and suite-level accommodations that marry simple minimalist decor with some good and bad room features. Standard room are claustrophobic and small, especially single rooms, with large windows overlooking the interior island with poly-blend bedding and mattresses lacking in comfy thickness. Large junior suites offer larger seating area, but look and feel straight out of an IKEA catalog, in colors of boring and boring-er beige. Suite level rooms come with even larger living areas, terraces overlooking the sea and mini-kitchenette to do light cooking when the communal atmosphere of the hotel has finally reached its limits.
